Manchester City are among the clubs reportedly interested in signing Kyle Walker from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.
Kyle Walker is one of the best right-backs in the Premier League and has been linked with moves away from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.
According to The London Evening Standard, Manchester United and Manchester City are interested in signing Walker from Tottenham in the summer. The Mirror has credited Chelsea with interest in the 26-year-old defender.
Walker has played well this season and has improved brilliantly under Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino over the past three or so years.
It should not come as a surprise to anyone that United, City and Chelsea all are (reportedly) interested in securing the services of the England international in the summer.
The former Sheffield United man would be a great signing for any of those aforementioned clubs, and one suspects that Tottenham would not be too willing to part company with such an influential player even if they are offered a huge transfer fee.
Former Arsenal attacker Paul Merson has praised Walker, and has suggested that City manager Pep Guardiola should make a move for him in the summer.
“I think it is very important for Pep Guardiola to bring in English players that have played in the Premier League because next season he has got to hit the ground running,” said Merson on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports News HQ last Saturday afternoon (broadcast from 12pm, May 13, 2017).
“He can’t bring players in and go ‘Oh, I have got to give him six months before they get used to this Premier League’ which is the hardest league in the world.
“You have to get players who have been here before, proven, and for me, I am a big fan of Kyle Walker. I think he has improved immensely, defensively and going forward.”
