Paul Merson has told The Debate, which was broadcast on Sky Sports on 29th November, that he does not believe Arsenal will be able to keep a clean sheet against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Gunners play host to Mauricio Pochettino’s side on Sunday, in what looks set to be a compelling North London derby.

But Merson has very low expectations for his old side, as he thinks Tottenham’s attack will be too strong for them to cope with.

Merson said, when asked if Arsenal could keep a clean sheet: “No chance. I’d be shocked if Arsenal kept a clean sheet. That’s why I think he’ll play Aubameyang and Lacazette and go I’m not going to draw this game 0-0.

“That’s what he did well against Liverpool. He thought we’ve got to have a go. I’d be shocked if Arsenal kept Tottenham to zero.”

Tottenham are currently the top team in London, and have finished above Arsenal for the last two seasons in a row.

Spurs fans have relished the power shift, and a victory this weekend, would put them six points clear of their local rivals again.

Tottenham head into the match on the back of two brilliant victories against Chelsea and Inter Milan, with Pochettino’s side in fine form.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have also strung a good run of results together, and are unbeaten in 18 matches across all competitions.
