Paul Merson says that Renato Sanches is an unbelievable signing for Swansea.
Popular Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson says that Swansea have done good business in the summer transfer window.
The Wales outfit lost Gylfi Sigurdsson to Everton for £45 million, and on the deadline day, they sold Fernando Llorente to Tottenham Hotspur.
Sigurdsson was arguably Swansea’s best player last season, managing nine goals and further laying off 13 for the others in the Premier League.
Llorente, 32, also made a strong impact last season, scoring 15 goals in the Premier League.
Merson believes that losing two of their best players is a blow, but they have done well in replacing them.
Swansea added Portuguese midfielder Renato Sanches, on loan, from Bayern Munich, and signed Wilfried Bony from Manchester City on a permanent deal.
The Sky Sports pundit is particularly excited about Sanches, and hailed the move as “simply phenomenal”.
The 20-year-old may not have impressed under Carlo Ancelotti in his first season at Bayern, but he is already a Euro Cup winner with his country. Merson adds that Bony is also a “good signing” for the Swans.
“Renato Sanches is an unbelievable signing for Swansea – simply phenomenal – and I think Wilfried Bony is a good signing as well,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“I’d be tempted to give them an A for those two deals, but they have let Fernando Llorente and Gylfi Sigurdsson leave who were their two best players last season. Given they have let those two players they haven’t done too badly at all.”
