Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has been quite simply sensational this season.
Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson raved about the quality of Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah, when writing a column for Sky Sports, and suggested that he should be a shoe-in for the Premier League Player of the Year award.
The Egyptian joined the Reds from Roma in the summer of 2017, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £34 million, and has since gone on to establish himself as one of the league’s best players, chipping in with 32 goals and 11 assists in 39 outings in all competitions thus far.
The race for this season’s POTY award is one of the most exciting in recent history, with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Eden Hazard, Harry Kane and Salah himself lighting up the top flight.
Merson, though, explained why he feels Salah deserves to win the award for the league’s best player this season, when writing a column for Sky Sports:
“It is Salah all day for me. What he has done in his first season at Liverpool is phenomenal. Nobody would have expected that. Over 20 goals from out wide, while he’s also scored big goals in big football matches – he’s the complete package with his work rate and pressing.”
There are still nine games to go this season, of course, so the running for the POTY award is still wide open, although De Bruyne might just hold the advantage, considering that his Manchester City side are nailed on to win the Premier League title.
