Paul Merson has predicted on Sky Sports that Wolverhampton Wanderers will finish seventh or eighth in the Premier League table this season.

Wolves won automatic promotion from the Championship to the Premier League at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.

The Wanderers are 10th in the league table at the moment with nine points from six matches, four points behind fourth-placed Watford.

Former Arsenal and Aston Villa attacking midfielder Merson believes that Wolves will finish seventh or eighth in the Premier League table this season.

Ex-Chelsea and Villa central midfielder Steve Sidwell has backed the Wanderers to end up in the top half of the standings this campaign.

Merson told Sky Sports: “I think seventh or eighth.”

Sidwell told Sky Sports: “I think they will be mid-table. I really do.”

Wolves have been superb in the Premier League so far this season, and their playing style and confidence have been stunning.

The way the Wanderers held Manchester United to a 1-1 draw away from home at Old Trafford in the league this past weekend was brilliant.

Back in August, Wolves played out a 1-1 draw with Manchester City at home in the league, and these big results do underline their strength and quality.
