West Ham United welcome Chelsea to the London Stadium on Monday night.
Paul Merson
Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson made his prediction for West Ham vs Chelsea, when writing his regular column for Sky Sports, and backed the Blues to rack up another three points, highlighting the Hammers’ struggles in front of their own fans so far this season as a reason why they might encounter problems against Antonio Conte’s men.
The West Londoners are currently top of the Premier League table, with a 10 point lead over second placed Tottenham Hotspur, and are heavily favoured to to go on and win the title.
West Ham, meanwhile, have not had things all their own way this season, but have managed to turn things around over the past two months, and have climbed into the top half of the table after a fine run of form that has seen them win six and draw two of their last 11 league outings.
Merson explained why he thinks Slaven Bilic’s side will have their work cut-out against the Blues on Monday night, however, when writing his regular column for Sky Sports:
West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic
“Chelsea look like a well-oiled machine at the moment which is showing now signs of any faults. They did lose to West Ham at the London Stadium in the EFL Cup earlier in the season, but I do not expect a repeat performance. I expect Chelsea to win this game. West Ham have struggled in front of their own fans and are a better side away from home.”
Prediction: West Ham 1-3 Chelsea
The game kicks off at 8pm on Monday night and can be seen live on Sky Sports 1.
