Tottenham Hotspur welcome Everton to White Hart Lane on Sunday.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino
When writing his regular prediction column for Sky Sports, Paul Merson predicted the outcome of Sunday’s Premier League clash between Spurs and Everton, where both sides will be desperate for all three points.
Both teams head into the game on the back of impressive runs of form, with Tottenham having lost just two of their last 16 games in all competitions, whilst the Toffees have not lost in the Premier League since December 19th.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men will be looking for a win to pile the pressure on Chelsea – who don’t play until Monday night, whilst Ronald Koeman’s side will need three points to keep their faint hopes of a place inside the top four alive.
And Merson explained how he thinks there will be goals a plenty in north London, with Spurs eventually coming out on top, when writing his column for Sky Sports:
Paul Merson
“This is a good game to kick off Super Sunday. It’s another tough game to call but I’m going to go with home advantage and back Spurs for a slender win. There will be goals as both teams are excellent going forward and the defences will not be able to live with the attacking quality both sides have. And I think Spurs, who are unbeaten in 13 homes games in the league, will come out on top for a ninth straight win at White Hart Lane in the Premier League.”
Prediction: Tottenham 3-2 Everton
The two teams have scored 92 goals between them in the Premier League this season, so the smart money would be on a high scoring game.
Especially when a draw does not really suit either side, as far as their lofty ambitions for this season are concerned.
