Paul Merson has predicted that Tottenham Hotspur will lose against Manchester United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and believes that Harry Kane will leave Spurs at the end of the season.

The former Arsenal star has predicted on SportsKeeda that Tottenham will lose the Premier League game against Manchester United 2-0 at home this week.

The Sky Sports pundit has also said that he thinks that Kane will leave Spurs at the end of the season.

Merson believes that Tottenham’s 6-1 hammering at the hands of Newcastle United at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon will have changed the mind of the England international striker.

Paul Merson on Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United and Harry Kane

Merson wrote: “The defeat against Newcastle will have probably made Harry Kane’s mind up. I don’t see how he stays at the club after that.

“That was a big game, and a chance to close the gap and get into the Champions League. I always thought Kane would stay at Tottenham, but that defeat would’ve been the last straw.”

The pundit added: “I’m worried that Tottenham don’t have a manager, and I don’t see how they can come back from their defeat against Newcastle. Man United will have too much for them on the counter and should be able to win this game.

“Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 0-2 Manchester United.”

HITC Verdict: Up in the air

In our view, the future of Harry Kane will not be sorted anytime soon.

True, Kane is out of contract at Tottenham at the end of next season, but Spurs will surely want to keep their best player.

Yes, Tottenham could make a lot of money if they cash in on Kane at the end of the season, but how many world-class strikers would want to move to Spurs as a potential replacement?

We believe that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will struggle to find as good a striker to replace Kane.

Moreover, Spurs could still finish in the Premier League top four this season.
