Paul Merson has told SkySports that he expects Tottenham Hotspur to beat reigning champions Leicester City this weekend.

It is the first meeting between the two clubs since they battled for the title at the end of last season, with the Foxes ultimately coming out on top.

Tottenham have home advantage for the Premier League fixture, and Merson is predicting a 2-0 win for them.

He said: “It’s an interesting game for Tottenham because they’re coming off a draw against Bournemouth, and if they drop points on Saturday, their next league game is away at Arsenal after a Champions League tie. It’s potentially a tricky little run so it makes beating Leicester quite important.”

Merson also poses the question whether Leicester will rest key players for the fixture, with a Champions League clash against Copenhagen next week.

The Foxes though really need to go all out to get a result against Spurs, and should realise that weakening their side to face a team as talented as Tottenham, is asking for trouble.

Over the past couple of games Leicester have looked more like the dynamic team of last season, and need to keep momentum in order to capitalise on it.

On this season’s form it would be a surprise if they won away to Tottenham, but they would surely take a point if they can match up well to Mauricio Pochettino’s side – who have not won any of their last four games in all competitions.
