Tottenham face Chelsea in midweek.
Paul Merson has told SkySports that he expects Tottenham Hotspur to break Chelsea’s winning run this week.
Chelsea have won their last 13 Premier League games and they could match Arsenal’s record of 14 with a victory over Tottenham.
Doing so will be easier said than done, despite Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Tottenham at Stamford Bridge in late November.
Tottenham and Chelsea players clash
Chelsea had home advantage for that fixture and played Spurs at a vulnerable moment, days after they were eliminated from the Champions League.
Spurs are since back on form, and have scored eight goals in their last two matches, putting together a mini winning run of their own, with four consecutive victories.
Pundit Paul Merson has told SkySports he expects the London rivals to cancel each other out in Wednesday night’s fixture, predicting a 1-1 draw.
He said: “I don’t think they’ll do it because this is a really hard game. I watched Chelsea’s game against Stoke for Soccer Saturday and they have weaknesses… This will be a very good game and I think it will be a draw.”
Tottenham’s Dele Alli and Harry Kane (L) look dejected
Tottenham will feel they ‘owe Chelsea one’, after the way the Blues ended their title challenge at Stamford Bridge last season.
It is almost exactly two years since Harry Kane inspired Spurs to hit five past Chelsea, and Tottenham fans would dearly love a repeat of that memorable result.
