Paul Merson has predicted on SportsKeeda that Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United and Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa will play out a 2-2 draw this weekend.

Newcastle will take on Villa at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Former Arsenal and Villa star believes that the match will finish 2-2.

Merson wrote on SportsKeeda: “If it wasn’t for Allan Saint-Maximin, Newcastle weren’t winning their game against Everton. He was outstanding on the day, and they’re going to go on the attack here.

“If Newcastle win this game, they’d be taking a massive step towards getting out of trouble. I think they need to get their points now and make hay while the sun shines.

“Philippe Coutinho was very good against Leeds. If you can have players like Jacob Ramsey making runs around him, Coutinho will find them. Coutinho will probably get Ramsey into the England squad.

“Both teams have a go in their Premier League games, and neither team is defensively very good. We saw that with Aston Villa the other night. I think there’ll be a lot of goals in this match.”

Who will win Newcastle United v Aston Villa?

In our view, the match between Newcastle and Villa at St. James’ Park in the Premier League will be quite entertaining.

Villa are a very good team under manager Gerrard and played out a 3-3 draw with Leeds United in the Premier League in midweek.

Newcastle beat Everton in their last league game, and while they are scoring goals, defensively they are still vulnerable.

Now, Newcastle are the home team, and we know how the St. James’ Park faithful can inspire the players.

So, in our view, the Magpies will head into the match with confidence.

However, Villa are a brilliant team who are entertaining and very good on the eye.

Gerrard is making the Villans a force to be reckoned with, and we think that they will get something from the match.
