Pundit is expecting Swansea City to win ‘cup final’ on Boxing Day.

Pundit and former player Paul Merson has told SkySports he is expecting Swansea City to beat West Ham on Boxing Day.

Swansea are in 19th position and have lost their last two matches, while the Hammers have had a mini resurgence as of late, winning their last two and losing only of the past five, to climb to 13th.

Merson believes the pressure on Swansea and the home crowd will be enough to sweep them to victory, arguing that West Ham are a lot poorer than their recent results suggest.

He said: “I watched West Ham get the biggest run around ever the other day against Hull, if they’d have lost by four or five goals there could have been no complaints.

“This is a cup final for Swansea if they want to stay in touch at the bottom.”

Despite Merson’s assertion about West Ham’s last match, Slaven Bilic’s side managed a 1-0 win, and another win like that would do nicely here, for a team which has struggled this season and just needs a string of victories to recover their confidence.

A win for Swansea could lift them out of the relegation zone based on rival teams’ results, and would cut the gap between Bob Bradley’s side and West Ham to four points.
