Pundit believes Manchester United and Arsenal will draw 1-1.
Paul Merson
Paul Merson is a former player privileged to have played in a number of clashes between Manchester United and Arsenal through the years, and knows just how competitive the fixture can be.
The two clubs battle it out at Old Trafford on Saturday, the first time with Jose Mourinho in the dugout for the Red Devils.
Mourinho has never lost to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger in the Premier League, and Merson has told SkySports he expects this incredible record to continue.
He does not though believe United have enough to beat Arsenal, and predicts the game will end in a 1-1 draw.
New Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho
Merson said: “Really, Arsenal should win this game on form, but with Jose Mourinho’s record against Wenger, I think he has a hold over him. I’m going 1-1.
“I think Mourinho’s record over Wenger makes a big difference. People aren’t really expecting United to win this, with Arsenal playing well, but I’m going one each.”
United are without key man Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the fixture, as he picked up a fifth yellow card of the season against Swansea in his last match, and incurred a one game suspension.
Arsenal’s main injury problem is that they are without Hector Bellerin, who was injured in the North London derby, and so Carl Jenkinson will deputise.
