Huddersfield Town and Queens Park Rangers go into this weekend’s fixture on the back of defeats.

Paul Merson has told Sky Sports News, which was broadcast on 16th September, that Huddersfield Town will bounce back from defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion to beat Queens Park Rangers 2-0 at the weekend.

Huddersfield are the current leaders of the Championship, after making an impressive start to the campaign, and Merson feels that they will get back to winning ways against a QPR side, whose confidence has been knocked.

Rangers were beaten 6-0 by Newcastle United in midweek, in what was a humiliating defeat in front of their own fans.

And Merson said: “I don’t think [they’ll recover]. 6-0 at home is shattering. I know Huddersfield got beat by Brighton, but Brighton are a very good team. If they can get back on the horse quickly, I don’t see anything but a Huddersfield win in this game.

“If QPR can turn this round after a 6-0 defeat, you’d have to hold your hands up and say fair play, but I can’t see it.”

Huddersfield have been the Championship’s surprise package this season, with David Wagner’s side playing with great style and flair.

The Terriers have pressed teams into submission, and there is hope that they can continue to upset the odds and mount a promotion push.

QPR, meanwhile, are stuck down in 14th position in the second tier standings and the pressure is mounting on Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

Rangers have disappointed in their last two home matches – against Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle – and will be determined to collect the three points at the weekend.
