Paul Merson has been impressed with Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Merson has been impressed with the performances of Alexander-Arnold for Liverpool this campaign and has spoken highly of the 19-year-old right-back.

“Trent Alexander-Arnold is my unsung hero of the season because he’s come from nowhere at Liverpool and been very impressive,” Merson wrote in The Daily Star.
“He’s sneaked under the radar a little bit at times but I think he deserves more credit. He’s a young lad playing for a big club where you’re always under pressure.
“But he’s handled it so, so well. Yes, he’s made mistakes but he’s always bounced back and to be the best player on the pitch in a Champions League semi-final is phenomenal.”

Rapid progress
Alexander-Arnold has been in great form for Liverpool this season and has been superb for Jurgen Klopp’s side at right-back.
The performances of the right-back in the Premier League and in the Champions League have been brilliant and very encouraging.
