Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur side were beaten by Arsenal at the weekend.

Mesut Ozil of Arenal is dejected after the Premier League match between Liverpool and Arsenal at Anfield on August 27, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

Paul Merson has told The Debate on Sky Sports, which was broadcast on 3rd December, that he thinks Mesut Ozil is the best player in either Arsenal or Tottenham Hotspur’s squad.

Arsenal beat Tottenham 4-2 at the weekend, with Unai Emery’s side not even having Ozil in their squad.

The German midfielder is currently out with a back injury, but Spurs still could not cope with the Gunners’ attack on Sunday.

Arsenal tore through Tottenham’s defence time after time, and Merson feels that his old side did so, without the most talented player in either squad.

He said: “I still think Ozil is the best player in both teams, if everybody brought their A game.”

Ozil’s future at Arsenal actually appears to be up in the air, as there are question marks over where he fits in under Emery.

The new Gunners boss demands that his teams press high, which does not suit Ozil’s more languid style.

Arsenal’s victory over Tottenham was formed on the basis of their hard-work at rushing Spurs when they were in possession.

Arsenal have now overtaken Tottenham in the Premier League table, and are sat in the top four.
