Pundit Paul Merson believes that Arsenal simply have to go and sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney after losing to Fulham on Sunday.

Raul Jimenez levelled it up for Fulham before Bobby De Cordova-Reid turned the ball home from close range.

Arsenal just couldn’t get back into the game and have now taken just four points from their last five Premier League games.

Arsenal look flat at the moment and their attacking problems just don’t look like being solved any time soon.

Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah continue to struggle for goals and both Gabriel Martinelli and Saka have suffered dips this season.

Arsenal may need to spend in January in order to keep their Premier League title hopes alive and Paul Merson thinks there is one ‘simple’ signing the Gunners must make.

Merson believes that Arsenal simply ‘have to go and get’ Brentford striker Ivan Toney, believing that the title dream isn’t over yet.

Merson feels that Toney could be the man to fire Arsenal to top spot, believing it is a ‘simple’ move to target the Brentford man.

It may be simple to identify Toney as a top target but actually convincing Brentford to sell may not be quite so easy.

The Bees have been without their star striker all season so far due to a ban for gambling offences.

Toney has been out of action for months now but will be back in January – and Brentford really need his goals at the moment.

That means Arsenal would face paying a huge fee for a player who hasn’t kicked a ball since the latter stages of last season, presenting a major risk.

We would be surprised to see Toney make the move to Arsenal in January, but maybe this dismal defeat at Craven Cottage will push Arsenal into action.
