Paul Merson has told Sky Sports that Manchester United should make a move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane.

United have been linked with Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid recently.

However, Merson believes that Kane would be a far better buy for Jose Mourinho’s side than the French international.

Tottenham's Harry Kane celebrates scoring their second goal

“Will United go in for Harry Kane? In my opinion, I think United should go for Kane over Antoine Griezmann,” he said.

“I’d want a player who is proven and has scored goals in this league. I’m a big fan of Griezmann, but this is a different league, and I don’t think Man Utd can get this wrong and wait another year.”

Kane has been a revelation ever since breaking through at Tottenham and the 23-year-old has gone from strength to strength this campaign.

Despite missing a sizeable chunk of the season with injury, Kane has still knocked in a staggering 29 goals in the Premier League.

Kane finished up by scoring back-to-back hat-tricks against Leicester City and Hull City to claim the Premier League’s golden boot trophy once again.

Kane is now well on his way to rivalling Alan Shearer’s Premier League goalscoring record, providing he stays in England over the course of his career.
