Burnley manager Sean Dyche deserves more credit than Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, according to Paul Merson.
Paul Merson raved about Clarets boss Sean Dyche, when speaking live on Sky Sports’ Gillette Soccer Saturday programme at 14:55 on December 2nd, insisting that the 46-year-old should win the manager of the year award if he guides his side to a top seven finish in the Premier League table.
Burnley have really impressed this season, and they currently sit in seventh position in the table, having beaten Chelsea and Everton away, and drawing with Liverpool and Tottenham at Anfield and Wembley respectively.

Considering the modest budget that Dyche has been forced to operate on during his time in charge at Turf Moor, he surely deserves to be mentioned alongside some of the league’s best managers, and it will surely only be a matter of time before he gets an opportunity to manage a bigger club than Burnley, and that is meant with no disrespect to the Clarets.
Merson believes that Dyche deserves to be recognised for his achievements at Burnley, telling Sky Sports’ Gillette Soccer Saturday that he should be named manager of the year, if Burnley finish inside the top seven:
“If Man City win the league, Pep Guardiola will get manager of the year, but if Burnley finish seventh, Dyche should get manager of the year in my opinion.”
If the Lancashire outfit continue their fine form, there is no reason why they cannot hold onto their place inside the top seven, and if they do indeed manage to do just that, nobody could argue if Dyche was awarded with the manager of the year award.
