Paul Merson makes a quite frankly ludicrous claim about Liverpool’s Mo Salah

The Liverpool ace has been on fire so far this season.

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson labelled Reds ace Mohamed Salah as ‘outstanding’, when writing his regular column for Sky Sports, but strangely suggested that he is NOT a great finisher.

The Egyptian has been in sensational form for Liverpool this season, scoring 17 goals in 21 appearances in all competitions, after making his £34million switch from Serie A side Roma in the summer.

Jürgen Klopp’s side have been magnificent going forward this season, and the former Chelsea man has been a major contributing factor behind that, although their fragile defence has hampered their chances of remaining within touching distance of league leaders Manchester City.

And Merson offered high praise for Salah, when writing his regular column for Sky Sports, although he did insist that the pacey forward could have done even better this term:

“Mohamed Salah has been outstanding. He’s settled quicker than snow. People say ‘why did Chelsea let him go’ but he’s a different player now. Certain players suit certain clubs – I think he’s improved immensely, although I don’t think he’s the greatest finisher in the world. He’s missed a lot of chances. He could have had even more goals to his name, but I love watching him.”

The 25-year-old leads Harry Kane in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot with 12 strikes to his name thus far, and if he goes on to finish as the division’s top scorer, £34 million will suddenly look like mere pocket change.

And Merson will surely have to then accept that he is in fact one of the best finishers in the game.
