Former Arsenal attacker Paul Merson said on the Sky Sports Now show on Sky Sports News HQ on Friday morning (broadcast from 11am, March 10, 2017) that Leeds United will finish in the top six of the Championship this season.

Leeds are going strong in the Championship at the moment and are in the running for the playoffs.

The West Yorkshire outfit are currently fourth in the standings with 65 points from 36 matches.

Former Arsenal attacker Merson believes that Leeds will end up in the playoffs this season.

The former England international, though, does not see Garry Monk’s side winning this weekend.

Leeds will take on Queens Park Rangers at Elland Road in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

The Whites will head into the match against Rangers on the back of a 1-1 draw with Fulham away from home at Craven Cottage in London in the league.

While predicting the match to end in a 2-2 draw on the Sky Sports Now show on Sky Sports News HQ on Friday morning (broadcast from 11am, March 10, 2017), Merson said: “I think this is a hard game for Leeds. I think QPR will come away with a draw.

“A draw is alright for Leeds now. For me, they are in the playoffs. I don’t see them going up automatically at the moment, but they will consolidate their playoff.”

Leeds have not featured in the Premier League since 2004, but there is a very good chance that they could get promoted to the English top flight at the end of the season.

What the Whites need to do is make sure that they work hard and pick up as many points as they can between now and the end of the season in order to consolidate their position in the top six.
