West Ham United have been really poor in their last few games.

Ex footballer Paul Merson enjoying day two of the Cheltenham Festival at Cheltenham Racecourse on March 11, 2015 in Cheltenham, England.

Paul Merson suggested that West Ham’s season is already over, when speaking exclusively to Sky Sports.

The Hammers have been incredibly inconsistent this term, and they currently sit in 11th spot in the Premier League table, five points adrift of seventh placed Leicester, with only five league games remaining.

Manuel Pellegrini made a whole host of new signings last summer, but many of them have failed to establish themselves at the London Stadium.

West Ham have had to deal with numerous injuries to some of their key players this season, and it seems as though they will finish off their campaign in mid-table mediocrity, unless they can muster five wins from their final five games.

And Merson suggested that it will now be just a case of getting through the final handful of games for Pellegrini’s men, when speaking exclusively to Sky Sports:

“West Ham have flip-flopped and they can’t really go anywhere. It’s a bad run of games and their season’s finished. It’s just a case of getting through it.”

West Ham have some incredibly tough games remaining this season, with trips to Manchester United and Tottenham still to come.

And Pellegrini might just be best served in writing this campaign off, and planning for next season already.
