Paul Merson was left baffled on Soccer Special on Sky Sports (23/05/21 at 1:10 pm) after presenter Jeff Stelling suggested that Harry Kane might want to ‘sit tight’ at Tottenham to see who their new manager will be.
The ex-Premier League winner pointed out that Tottenham have just had ‘two of the best managers we have seen’.
Whilst Jose Mourinho’s time at Tottenham was unsuccessful, many Spurs fans would no doubt take Mauricio Pochettino back now and question why they didn’t stick with him when things were going wrong.
Either way, Stelling suggested that Kane might want to ‘play for’ Tottenham’s next manager if he can lure him to stay.
“Is there a possibility that he would want to sit tight until he knows who is going to be the new manager at Spurs?” suggested Stelling.
Merson was left baffled by the question and stated: “They have just had two of the best managers we have seen.”
Stelling responded: “Well, they might get a brilliant manager in. It might be somebody he wants to play for.”

Nothing has come from Kane’s mouth himself in regards to wanting him to leave, but Sky Sports have suggested that he wants to move on.
Spurs fans need to use these early few weeks of the season to show ambition and intent to move forward again.
And that starts with bringing a new manager in. It doesn’t help Tottenham’s cause that they aren’t in the Champions League and not even the Europa League.
But this is the most important summer during Daniel Levy’s 20-year tenure in North London and if he gets this wrong then it could potentially become much worse next season.
