Tottenham and England striker Harry Kane cannot please everyone.

Picked in the England side to score goals, Harry Kane did exactly that against Tunisia in England’s World Cup opener.
He netted a brace in the 2-1 win including a last minute winner, and really he should have been awarded a penalty too after being hauled down in the box.
Tottenham Hotspur striker Kane found himself the target of criticism from pundit Paul Merson, who told Sky Sports that he thought the Three Lions captain was ‘poor’.

Merson said that he feels Kane needs to offer more from open play, with his goals coming from set pieces.

He said: “If I’m being honest – and I’m one of his biggest fans – I thought he was poor.
“He scored the two goals, but he brings more to the team than that. He’s not a Gary Lineker, who would touch the ball twice and score two goals and that’s what he brought to the team.
“They need Harry Kane to hold the ball up, get involved and bring other players into the game. I don’t think he did that.”

If Kane was getting complacent after his opening brace, he should take notice of Merson’s comments and use them as inspiration.
He has a good opportunity to score more goals against Panama, who lost their opening game against Belgium.
