Paul Merson has pinpointed a potential weakness in Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen.

Paul Merson has described Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen as inconsistent, something which could be backed up by his below par start to the season.
The creative midfielder is viewed as one of the outstanding players in the Spurs squad, but is still waiting to open his goalscoring account this campaign and hasn’t been anywhere near his best.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have still managed three wins out of four in the league and will be hoping they can remain in the mix at the top end of the table.
Sky Sports pundit Merson has claimed that Eriksen’s form can vary from game to game, but that seems harsh given the quality of his performances in recent seasons.
“Eriksen is a player that can be great and then another week can get marked out of the game,” Merson told talkSPORT.

Eriksen may have made a slow start this year and not be bang on the money every game, but he’s developed into one of the Premier League’s best midfielders under Pochettino.
The Denmark international is absolutely vital to the Spurs side and they would be doomed without him for an extended spell of time.
He provides the extra intelligence to unlock defensive doors and helps control possession for his side.
Eriksen was directly involved in 27 goals in all competitions last season and his importance can’t be stressed enough, despite having quality teammates around him such as Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Jan Vertonghen.
