Could Tottenham Hotspur lose Kyle Walker and Danny Rose to Manchester United or Manchester City?

Former Arsenal attacker Paul Merson suggested on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports News HQ on Saturday afternoon (broadcast from 12pm, January 14, 2017) that Tottenham Hotspur could lose defenders Kyle Walker and Danny Rose.

Walker and Rose are two of the best full-backs in the Premier League and are key figures in the current Tottenham team.

Premier League rivals Manchester United and Manchester City are interested in the two England internationals, according to a recent report in The Sun.

Former Arsenal attacker Merson believes that Spurs could lose both right-back Walker and left-back Rose.

“If the money is right, this could turn head, this could, in my opinion,” said Merson on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports News HQ on Saturday afternoon (broadcast from 12pm, January 14, 2017) while discussing City’s interest in the duo.

“The new stadium… It’s not Dele Alli, it’s not Harry Kane, big massive influence, but if they started coming in with £40 million, £50m for these players, I just don’t see how they can turn it down.”

Manchester United and Manchester City are huge clubs with a lot of money, but it is hard to see Tottenham selling Walker or Rose to their rivals.

Spurs are an ambitious club and are building for the future, and it would be hard for the North London outfit to find suitable replacements.

Moreover, do Walker and Rose have to leave? After all, they are playing for a big club in London who are challenging for the Premier League title and featuring in the Champions League.
