Pundit does not expect Sam Allardyce to be Everton manager next season.

Sam Allardyce, Manager of Everton looks on during the Premier League match between Arsenal and Everton at Emirates Stadium on February 3, 2018 in London, England.

Paul Merson has told SkySports he does not expect Sam Allardyce to be Everton manager next season.

Everton are in poor form at present and lost all three Premier League games last month.

The most recent was a dull 1-0 defeat at Watford where they put in a particularly turgid display.

Paul Merson answers questions during Gillette Soccer Saturday Live with Jeff Stelling on March 19, 2012 at the Bournemouth International Centre in Bournemouth, England.

Merson believes manager Sam Allardyce will be gone by time next season starts.

He said: “I watched Everton against Watford last weekend and it wasn’t good.

“The way Everton are playing now I’d be surprised if Sam Allardyce was there next season.

“I know he’s got a contract beyond that but I can’t see him staying.”

Everton fans are getting increasingly infuriated with the poor results and terrible football being played by the club.

A lot of money has been spent over the past year on attacking talents like Theo Walcott, Cenk Tosun, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Davy Klaassen among others, but the Toffees just cannot get anything going.

Remarkably they still sit in ninth place despite their poor form, and this is at least some progress compared to where Everton were when Allardyce took over, when they were beginning to fear relegation.

To that end, Allardyce has done what was required, but Merson is right that it would be a surprise if Everton decided to keep him around to take them forward next season.
