In his column for Sky Sports, former Arsenal striker Paul Merson is not sure if the duo of Christian Benteke and Loic Remy will prove to be good signings for Crystal Palace.

Crystal Palace enjoyed a very productive time in the transfer window this summer by bringing in a number of high profile players such as Andros Townsend, James Tomkins and Steve Mandanda among others.

However, arguably the signings which have caught the attention of the Palace faithful have been of Christian Benteke and Loic Remy.

It is not secret that Palace struggled to find the back of the net on a consistent basis last season and many feel that the arrivals of two quality international strikers in Benteke and Remy will provide the Eagles much needed firepower in attack this season.

While the Palace fans might be excited with Benteke and Remy’s arrival, Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson is not entirely sure that the duo will prove to be successes at Selhurst Park.

Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Merson explained that Benteke and Remy have to prove themselves all over again and added that the two strikers could potentially struggle at Palace.

The 48-year-old stated, “Christian Benteke hasn’t found his Aston Villa form and that worries me but I like the signing of Andros Townsend, who gives his all.

“Benteke and Loic Remy need to prove themselves again, and they are deals that could go either way for Alan Pardew.”

Palace have made a very poor start to their Premier League campaign so far and Benteke and Remy will perhaps need to start firing on all cylinders in order for the Eagles to turn things around following the international break.
