Tottenham Hotspur have drawn in each of their last two fixtures.
Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson is backing Bournemouth to get a point against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Tottenham will top the Premier League for at least a couple of hours if they return with all three points from the Vitality Stadium, where they were 5-1 winners a year ago.
Merson thinks Bournemouth have made great strides since then however, and will be tough opposition for Mauricio Pochettino’s team, who fought hard for a point against Bayer Leverkusen in midweek.
That, the former Arsenal playmaker says, is another reason why Spurs could struggle on the South Coast.
“Bournemouth are playing very well,” writes Merson in his weekly predictions column for Sky Sports. “I watched them last week.
“Spurs had a tough game in midweek and it might catch up with them for the early Saturday kick-off. I know they got beaten 5-1 last year, but it will be different for Bournemouth.
“I’ve been impressed with Spurs, even when they don’t play well they get a result. They’re undefeated, and when they go 1-0 down late on against West Brom, they fight back for a result.
“But I can see a draw here. 2-2.”
Tottenham remain the Premier League’s only unbeaten side, following Dele Alli’s late equaliser against West Bromwich Albion last time out.
However, Pochettino could be without key man Danny Rose at the Vitality Stadium, in addition to the already sidelined Toby Alderweireld.
Talisman Harry Kane returned to training on Thursday, albeit in isolation, although on current form the England international will struggle to dislodge Son Heung-min from Tottenham’s starting line up.
