Paul Merson has suggested a reason in The Daily Star why everybody loves Arsenal.

Merson has claimed that everyone loves his former club because they never win anything.

“Everybody loves Arsenal – but only because they never win anything,” the former Arsenal attacker wrote in The Daily Star.

“The only thing is that this is a year when a lot of big teams look like coming second so it might not be quite so bad. But still…”

Merson is clearly frustrated with Arsenal’s recent record, and one suspects that most of the Gunners’ fans are.

After all, the North London outfit have not won the Premier League title since 2004 and have become also-rans in the Champions League in recent seasons.

However, one must not forget that Arsene Wenger’s side consistently finish in the top four of the Premier League. Moreover, Arsenal won the FA Cup in 2014 and then again in 2015.

The Gunners also play good and entertaining football, and have been doing so for years. Neutrals certainly love watching Arsenal in action, as they almost never fail to entertain.

The North London outfit will return to actin on Sunday afternoon when they take on Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League.

Arsenal are fourth in the league table at the moment with 25 points from 12 matches. The Gunners are currently six points behind leaders and London rivals Chelsea.
