Paul Merson has made his prediction about whether Everton or Brentford will come out on top in Saturday afternoon’s clash.

With the Toffees sitting in 18^th place, fans have started to fear whether avoiding relegation has now turned into nothing more than just a pipe dream.

As Everton are in desperate need of a result against Brentford, Paul Merson has put forward his prediction on whether they can get the job done at Goodison Park this upcoming weekend.

Paul Merson prediction sees Everton losing to Brentford

While it seemed like the English manager was destined to ensure that the Merseyside-based club survive the drop, and while this is not to suggest that their hopes are dead and buried, it would take a herculean effort for them to do so.

Now, Paul Merson has explained the rationale behind his prediction that sees Everton succumbing to a 2-1 defeat to Brentford.

“It’s a huge game for Everton. They led twice against Nottingham Forest last week but couldn’t convert it into a win. Brentford are a very good team and we saw that the other night. The Bees beat Fulham 3-2 and the Cottagers have been a pretty solid team this term.”

“Brentford have the longest unbeaten run in the Premier League right now. On current form, they are one of the teams to beat in the English top flight. Everton will have to do something special to get a result here”, he said on Sportskeeda.

Unfortunately for Everton fans, Paul Merson is bang on when it comes to the logic behind his prediction, especially seeing how Brentford are flying high in 9^th place and are yet to lose a game since 29^th October last year.
