Pundit believes Tottenham will be beaten by two clear goals.

Paul Merson answers questions during Gillette Soccer Saturday Live with Jeff Stelling on March 19, 2012 at the Bournemouth International Centre in Bournemouth, England.

Paul Merson has told SkySports he does not believe Tottenham Hotspur have a chance against Manchester City this weekend.

Injuries and suspension leave Spurs without star centre-backs Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen, with just Jan Vertonghen remaining of their first choice back three.

Merson believes that in form Manchester City will simply be too good for Spurs.

He said: “If Tottenham had their best team out they would give them a game but I don’t think they will do it with the defenders they have out.

“Toby Alderweireld is probably the best defender in the world in my opinion and he is badly missed. And Davinson Sanchez is out along with Victor Wanyama, so they are missing big players. Otherwise it would have been game on.”

Merson is predicting a 3-1 win for Manchester City at The Etihad.

He did go on to add that he feels fans should not get carried away with Pep Guardiola’s City side, stating they are not yet int the class of previous Manchester United and Arsenal teams.

Spurs are a whopping 18 points behind Manchester City, and catching them is hugely improbably if not impossible just yet.

The entire league will likely be willing Spurs on to pull off an away win, but it will certainly be tough for Mauricio Pochettino’s men without two of their best defenders.
