Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with a host of managers following Antonio Conte’s departure.
Plenty of names have been doing the rounds, such as Mauricio Pochettino and Julian Nagelsmann.
Now, another top manager has become a free agent, prompting renewed links with Tottenham.
Brendan Rodgers recently left Leicester City by mutual consent after four years at the club.
TalkSPORT reported in March that Tottenham are big fans of the 50-year-old.
It was suggested that Spurs admire Rodgers and his style of play is what they are seeking from their next manager.
Several pundits, including Gary Neville and Jamie O’Hara, reckon Rodgers to Tottenham could happen.
Now, Paul Merson has told Sportskeeda that the 50-year-old ticks a lot of boxes for Spurs and their fans.
“Brendan Rodgers ticks a lot of boxes for Tottenham,” wrote the Arsenal legend.
“He plays on the front foot, and that’s what the fans want.
“They want to see an entertaining football team.
“They might not have won anything when I was playing, but they were very entertaining.
“They have the players to pull it off, and they could do well under Rodgers.”
Our view
Rodgers to Tottenham makes sense.
The Northern Irishman won two league titles, two cups and three league cups during his time as Celtic boss.
Rodgers also won an FA Cup and a Community Shield with Leicester, plus the League Cup at Swansea.
And crucially, he knows the Premier League inside out.
Earlier in his career, Rodgers had a spell at Liverpool, and very nearly won the title in 2014.
He is now much more experienced at the highest level and would be able to take that to Tottenham.
Rodgers would surely hit the ground running at N17 and build them up into a solid side capable of winning silverware.
