Paul Merson says West Ham’s result last weekend could have been even more embarrassing.
West Ham travel to Liverpool this weekend hoping to bounce back from their woeful 5-1 home loss to Arsenal last weekend.
Facing a freescoring Liverpool side is hardly the fixture they would have wanted, although any match away from the London Stadium at this point should probably be welcomed.

Ex-Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson has told SkySports he expects Liverpool to win 3-0, and had some harsh words for Slaven Bilic’s West Ham side, suggesting their result last weekend could have easily been far more embarrassing than it was.
He said: “The last 20 minutes against Arsenal was just terrible and I fear for West Ham. Another 10 minutes and it could have been eight.
“They are shipping goals left, right and centre and could be in real trouble this weekend if Liverpool get on a roll.
“I can’t see anything other than a comfortable home win, and I’m actually being kind to the Hammers with my prediction. It could be much worse.”
West Ham will take heart from the fact they managed to get a draw away at Manchester United last month, while they managed to beat Liverpool at Anfield last season.
That seems a long time ago now, and the Hammers head into the game in a depressing position in the Premier League table, 17th place and looking over their shoulders hoping they will not be dragged into a relegation battle.
With Swansea and Sunderland playing on Saturday and this game taking place on Sunday, by time the match kicks off the Hammers could already be in the bottom three.
