Former Arsenal star Paul Merson comments on Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli’s temperament.

Merson has criticised the Tottenham midfielder for his temperament, and believes that he would not get voted into the PFA Team of the Year at the moment.
“But you just can’t get away with the things Dele Alli is doing,” Merson wrote in The Daily Star. “He’s a great player, but his temperament? Terrible. It’s not right.”
“If the PFA team of the year was voted on tomorrow he wouldn’t be in it because his fellow pros don’t respect him,” added Merson.

Alli is one of the best young midfielders in the world and is a key figure in the current Tottenham team.
Although the 21-year-old’s performances so far this season have been mixed, there is no doubt over his talent and quality.
The former Milton Keynes Dons youngster will come good over the course of the 2017-18 campaign, and is pretty much guaranteed a place in the England starting lineup when he is fit and available.

Alli, though, does need to be more mature and control himself, but one suspects that that will come with age.
One should not forget that the Spurs midfielder is still only 21 years of age, and he has time on his hand to work on his temperament.
