The former Arsenal star, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, is not impressed with Moshiri’s recent comments about Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea attacking midfielder Ross Barkley.
While Belgium international striker Lukaku left the Toffees for United in the summer of 2017, England international attacking midfielder Barkley moved to Chelsea in the January transfer window.
Moshiri’s recent controversial comments about Lukaku and Barkley, as reported by The Telegraph, have been criticised by Merson, who has claimed that players will now think twice before joining the Merseyside outfit.
Merson wrote in The Daily Star: “If you’re a mad Everton fan, you will be loving his honesty, but if you were a player thinking about going there, you might think twice now.
“It wasn’t just Lukaku, he revealed a lot of private stuff about what Ross Barkley had asked for, and that kind of thing needs to be kept behind closed doors.
“You might think twice about going to Everton now, if you’re a player, because you’d be worried anything you say in private could come out in public somewhere down the line.”
Everton are ninth in the Premier League table at the moment with 27 points from 22 matches.
The Merseyside outfit are out of danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
The Toffees will return to action on Saturday evening when they take on Tottenham Hotspur away from home at the Wembley Stadium in the Premier League.
