Paul Merson has told SkySports that he believes Everton will beat Bournemouth this weekend despite their midweek cup exit.
The pundit also explains that he is frustrated for the club that they were eliminated from the EFL Cup this week, arguing they have missed a great opportunity to compete for silverware.

Everton were beaten 2-0 at home to Norwich City as Ronald Koeman rotated his side, after a superb start to the season in the Premier League.
Merson told SkySports: “I was shocked by their result in midweek against Norwich. They are not in Europe so what are their objectives this year? A top-six finish would be great but it’s not smart to put all your eggs in one basket.
“If you lose two or three games on the spin in the league your fans can get disheartened, but if you have a cup run at the same time it helps massively.
“Still, Everton are a handful at the moment and Bournemouth will have a go, and I think that style of play could suit the visitors.”

Merson is predicting a 2-1 win for Everton at Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth, who have had an underwhelming start to the season.
Bournemouth are in 17th place with one win and one draw from their opening five games, while Everton are flying high at the top of the table.
The Toffees are unbeaten in the league and sit in second position, having won their last four in a row, prior to the midweek cup exit.
