Paul Merson has urged Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti in The Daily Star not to include Jordan Pickford in his starting lineup.
Pickford is injured at the moment and did not feature against Leeds United and Manchester United, with Robin Olsen playing in his place.
Former Arsenal star Merson, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, believes that the England international goalkeeper should not be part of the starting lineup.
The Englishman has pointed out that Pickford has made far too many mistakes and has cost his team a lot of points.
Merson wrote in The Daily Star: “Jordan Pickford needs to be taken out of the Everton team – for his own good. He’s been very fortunate to keep on getting a chance because he’s been making big mistakes consistently in games.”
The Sky Sports pundit added: “Everton could be even higher in the table without Pickford’s mistakes. They have been really costly.”

Jordan Pickford needs to step up his game
Pickford has made mistakes this season, and they have been costly for Everton.
The 26-year-old is erratic in front of goal at times and takes unnecessary risks, but there is still time for him to cut it out from his game.
Olsen did well against Leeds in the absence of Pickford, but the 31-year-old – signed on loan from AS Roma in the summer of 2020 – was far from impressive against Manchester United on Saturday.
The Toffees are very much in the running for the Premier League top four, and Ancelotti will have to be tough with his team selections.
