Paul Merson says that Harry Kane is frustrated as his Tottenham Hotspur teammate Christian Eriksen is not playing regularly.
Paul Merson has stated in The Daily Star that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane looks frustrated.
The former Arsenal star believes that Kane is not playing well at the moment as he does not have attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen behind him.
Merson, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, has also criticised manager Mauricio Pochettino for not playing the Denmark international and for playing Danny Rose.
According to WhoScored, Kane, 26 has scored two goals in three Premier League appearances for Spurs so far this season, while Eriksen has made one start and two substitute appearances in the league.
Merson wrote in The Daily Star: “Harry Kane looks frustrated this season as well. He’s coming so short all the time to receive the ball because he isn’t getting any service.
“But that’s because Christian Eriksen isn’t playing. Without him, they don’t have enough vision.”
Merson added: “Some of the decision-making is strange. Not playing Eriksen because he hasn’t a signed a new contract has really hurt them. And Danny Rose is for sale – but he’s played every game!”
Christian Eriksen needs to start today
Eriksen is one of the best and most creative midfielders in Europe, and the Dane simply has to start against Arsenal in the North London derby today.
Arsenal are not exactly great defensively, and the former Ajax star can create chances and even score a goal that could lead Spurs to victory in the Premier League game.
A win against Arsenal today will put Tottenham back on track for a Premier League challenge.
