Paul Merson suggests that a lack of silverware at Tottenham Hotspur will tempt Harry Kane to leave.

Paul Merson has written in The Daily Star that Harry Kane will be tempted to join Real Madrid if they approach the Tottenham Hotspur hitman.
Kane consolidated his status as one of the world’s finest goalscorers after ending 2017 with 56 goals for club and country – and breaking Alan Shearer’s record of 36 Premier League goals in a calendar year.
The 24-year-old eclipsed Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the goalscoring stakes, but there is a chance that he will not win anything at Spurs for the fourth season in a row.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are 21 points behind top-of-the-table Manchester City and only an FA Cup or Champions League success would see Tottenham end the season with silverware.
And Merson believes a desire to win trophies could offset a move to the Spanish capital, if Madrid wanted him.
He told The Daily Star: “He plays because he loves the game and he wants to win things. But can he win them at Tottenham?

“Spurs have a new stadium to fund. And they got him for nothing. Are they really going to turn down £150m? Look at all the other players they’ve sold over the years. Gareth Bale went. Dimitar Berbatov went. Even Kyle Walker went.
“At some point, he is going to have a big decision to make. There aren’t many people who don’t want to play for Real Madrid. He would have to be tempted. It’s a short career and you have to make the most of it.”
Merson is probably right in saying that Tottenham will sell Kane if the money is right, and you have to imagine that he, like any player on the planet, would be tempted to join the Spanish giants if they went in for him.
