Ayoze Perez has been playing well for Newcastle United in recent weeks, and the 25-year-old has been scoring goals for fun lately.

The Spaniard, who can operate as a forward or as an attacking midfielder, scored against Leicester City and against Brighton and Hove Albion, and he also bagged a hat-trick against Southampton at St. James’ Park in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old recently suggested to The Mirror that he could leave the Magpies in the summer transfer window.

The attacker said that there will be options for him at the end of the season, and Newcastle fans will worry if he will leave.

According to WhoScored, Perez has made 32 starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for Newcastle this season, scoring 11 goals and providing two assists in the process.

During the 2017-18 campaign, the attacker made 28 starts and eight substitute appearances in the league for the Magpies, scoring eight goals and providing five assists in the process, according to WhoScored

Former Arsenal attacking midfielder Paul Merson has given his take on Perez’s future, and believes that it will depend on what manager Rafael Benitez will do.

Benitez is out of contract at Newcastle at the end of the season and no new deal is in place.

Merson said about the future of Perez on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports News on Saturday afternoon (1:44pm, April 27, 2019): “I think it comes down to the manager.

“If the manager stays, I think he probably would stay. I think he would. If not, he will probably go back to Spain and play for probably Getafe or someone like that who might get into the Champions League.”
