Everton and Liverpool will face each other in the Merseyside derby on Sunday.

Marco Silva, Manager of Everton looks on prior to the Premier League match between Cardiff City and Everton FC at Cardiff City Stadium on February 26, 2019 in Cardiff, United Kingdom.

Former Arsenal attacking midfielder Paul Merson has suggested on Skysports.com that Everton do not pose any threat to Liverpool.

Everton will take on Liverpool at home in the Merseyside derby this weekend.

The Toffees will head into the Premier League match at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon on the back of a 3-0 victory over Cardiff City away from home at the Cardiff City Stadium in the league.

Liverpool are a point clear of second-placed Manchester City and are going strong at the moment.

Former Arsenal star Merson has suggested that man-for-man, Everton do no pose any threat to Liverpool.

Merson wrote on Skysports.com: “What threat do Everton have? Man-for-man, there is no threat, but it’s Everton’s cup final. Liverpool have to get through this unscathed.”

Tough game for Liverpool

Everton do not have the quality of players that Liverpool do and their record in Merseyside derbies is also not great, but the Toffees do have home advantage.

Liverpool have to work hard and need to be on top of their game if they are to pick up all three points from the Premier League game this weekend.

It may not be a pretty game to watch and there will probably not be a lot of goals; one should not be surprised if a set-piece makes all the difference in the match.
