Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane will be leading the line for England ahead of these up and coming international fixtures, but will Harry Winks join him in Gareth Southgate’s squad?

Paul Merson has claimed that he’s a ‘big fan’ of Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks and stated that he’s a ‘big player’ for England.
Gareth Southgate will be naming his squad on Thursday for the up and coming internationals, as a number of Spurs players will no doubt be featuring.
Striker Harry Kane is the obvious player that will feature and Winks, who missed England’s UEFA Nations League squad in the summer, will be hoping to make a return.
Speaking on The Debate on Sky Sports Premier League (26/08/2019 at 10:50 pm), Merson explained why a player like Winks is so important for England despite ‘a lot of people’ not being a fan of him.
“I think Winks is a big player for England,” Merson told The Debate. “I don’t think a lot of people like Winks. I am a big fan of his. He keeps the ball.
“If you look at every year we fail when we get to a certain time [at major tournemnts] we never keep the ball and he keeps the ball. It might go there [five yards] or there [five yards] but he keeps the ball. And don’t be embarrassed to keep it.”

Winks has featured regularly for Tottenham this season, and even though Mauricio Pochettino’s side have struggled in the middle of the park during the first few games, Winks hasn’t done much wrong.
Whilst England did well to reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Nations League, they produced a very poor display against Holland.
Considering, Winks wasn’t part of that squad, he could potentially be in with a chance of making a return.
