Paul Merson has claimed that Bukayo Saka has taken his game at Arsenal up ‘an absolute another level’, as he told Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports.
The Arsenal legend added that Mikel Arteta’s side have been playing such good football in recent times that it reminds him of the Arsene Wenger days.
Last week, the Gunners recorded a nervy, yet entertaining 3-2 win over Watford, with Saka assisting and scoring at Vicarage Road.
Despite starting this season on the back of the disappointment of Euro 2020, Saka has well and truly put all of that behind him.
And whilst speaking about the quality of football Arsenal have been playing in recent weeks, Merson made sure to give Saka his flowers.
“They are doing great,” said Merson. “They have been playing some great football. It reminded me of watching a Wenger team watching the goals the other day.
“It was one-touch outstanding play. Saka has taken it up another level. An absolute another level – it’s in their hands, they will never get a better chance of getting into the top four.”
A big, big week awaits Arsenal because they face-off against Leicester on Sunday, before a tricky home tie against Liverpool and then a trip to Villa Park.
This season, Arsenal have been used to playing no European football, therefore, not much football in midweek.
But that won’t be the case during these next six days, which if they come out of it in a strong fashion, then there is no reason why they can’t secure a top-four finish.
The quality, depth and mentality of this young Arsenal side will be tested and it’s one a player like Saka will be key in if they are to come out from it with maximum points or, at the very least, seven points.
