Liverpool have been on a poor run of form in the Premier League over the past month.

Paul Merson suggested that Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp is starting to panic, during a guest appearance on Sky Sports’ The Debate programme last night.

The Reds currently sit in second spot in the Premier League table, one spot adrift of league leaders Manchester City, and they have shown signs in recent weeks that they are beginning to feel the pressure.

Liverpool have drawn four of their last six Premier League games, and they must address that form as a matter of urgency, if they are to have any chance whatsoever of winning their first top flight crown since 1990.

Klopp received criticism from fans and pundits alike for the substitutions that he made during the final 30 minutes of Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Everton at Goodison Park.

And Merson jumped on the bandwagon, when speaking during a guest appearance on Sky Sports’ The Debate programme last night, suggesting that the Liverpool boss is beginning to panic:

“Jurgen Klopp is panicking. Getting uptight in his press conference about Manchester City. Panic is setting in, as shown by his substitutions, bringing on Adam Lallana for Sadio Mane. James Milner coming on… I like him, but you’ve got to win the game. You’ve got Daniel Sturridge and Xherdan Shaqiri on the bench. I’ve been a manager myself and sometimes you sit there after a game and think ‘I shouldn’t have done that’.”

Next up for Liverpool is a home game against Burnley on Sunday, and nothing less than a win will do, as they look to get their title challenge back on track.
