Wolverhampton and Liverpool are due to face each other at Molineux on 22nd December.

England's Paul Merson crosses the ball during the Star Sixes football match between England and Spain at the O2 Arena in London on July 13, 2017.

Paul Merson has told the Debate on Sky Sports that he believes Wolverhampton Wanderers will be ripped apart by Liverpool this season.

Wolves managed to hold Manchester City to a 1-1 draw at Molineux, and they were impressive in the contest.

Wolves refused to just defend against City, and they looked to use their pace to exploit Pep Guardiola’s side on the break.

But Merson has suggested that he thinks Wolves’ defence could struggle to deal with Liverpool, when the two sides meet.

He said: “I think if Liverpool went to Wolves they’ll rip them apart. Because of the pace they have on the counter attack. I think they’ll win three or four.”

Wolves are yet to be torn apart by anybody in the Premier League since their promotion.

Indeed, Nuno’s side appear to be finding their feet in the top tier, and are enjoying a positive start.

Wolves picked up their first win of the season last weekend, when they beat West Ham United in the last minute at the London Stadium.

Wolves have picked up five points from their first four league matches, which has put them in 11th position in the Premier League table.
