Tottenham Hotspur have signed Davinson Sanchez from Ajax in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur made their first signing of the summer transfer window last week.
The North London outfit completed the signing of Davinson Sanchez from Ajax for a transfer fee that could be worth up to £40 million, according to Sky Sports.
The 21-year-old central defender has arrived at Spurs with a strong reputation, having enjoyed a hugely successful season on a personal level for Dutch giants Ajax in 2016-17.

The Colombia international is one of the best and most promising young centre-backs in Europe, and the 21-year-old could prove to be a long-term success for Tottenham.
Former Arsenal star Paul Merson has given his take on the signing of Sanchez for Spurs.
Merson has questioned Tottenham’s decision to sign a centre-back for £40m when they have two superb players for that position in Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen.

The former England international has asked whether Spurs have received a big bid for Alderweireld, with The Times recently reporting that defending Premier League champions Chelsea have made an enquiry about the centre-back.
When asked if Tottenham have been pressured into signing Sanchez, Merson said on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports News last Saturday afternoon (broadcast from 12pm, August 19, 2017): “For me it is, or are we reading into something a little bit different here and putting two and two together and coming up with five?
“He is one of the centre-halves. Have they had a big bid for Alderweireld from someone for £70m. No Van Dijk now.”
