Paul Merson thinks Aston Villa will finish above Leicester City this season, but Clinton Morrison stated that it will be the Foxes, as they told Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports (02/10/21 at 1:25 pm).

Former Birmingham striker Morrison made it clear that he likes Dean Smith and Villa, but those in the East Midlands will finish ‘one point’ above them.

Brendan Rodgers side are in action on Sunday afternoon, as they lock horns with Crystal Palace.

For Villa. they will be taking on another London-based club in Tottenham.

Three points for Leicester – and a defeat for Villa in North London today – then they will go level on points (10) with those repping the Claret and Blue colours.

Although, if the FA Cup winners continue to struggle, and suffer another defeat, then they might find themselves six points being Villa by the end of the day.

Either way, there is a long way to go yet, but this is what Merson and Morrison had to say about both clubs.

Merson asked the ex-striker who will finish higher Villa or Leicester: “I think Leicester will finish ahead of Villa,” said Morrison. “But I don’t think Villa are a mid-table team.

“No chance. I think when everyone is fit. I think going forward, they will create chances. They’ll go to Spurs and create chances. Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings. When they can get Bailey fit.

“They have great attacking options. In midfield, they have got McGinn. I like them. I like Aston Villa. I like Dean Smith – but Leicester will finish above them, one point above them.”

Merson was then asked to answer his own question: “Like Michael Parkison, as great interviewer, you don’t answer your own questions.

“But I will go Aston Villa.”

In the Midlands, Leicester have set the bar in recent years, including that stunning Premier League triumph and their FA Cup win last season.

But it has been quite a worrying start for them this time around, both in the Premier League and in Europe.

For Villa, it has been a mixed bag, losing to Watford on the opening day, but also beating Manchester United last time out.
