Phillip Cocu manager of Derby County arrives prior to the Sky Bet Championship match between Leeds United and Derby County at Elland Road on September 21, 2019 in Leeds, England.

Paul McGrath has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to Derby County’s draw with Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.

Derby came from a goal behind to play out a 1-1 draw with Leeds away from home in the Championship.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side took the lead through an own goal from Max Lowe in the 20th minute, and Chris Martin equalised for the visiting team in the first minute of injury time.

Former Derby central defender McGrath was following the match, and he has sent a message to the players following the final result.

McGrath wrote on Twitter: “Leeds United v Derby Co Fc . Wow great shout Mr Don Goodman , After Leeds dominate basically the whole game, Up pops Chris Martin with a brilliant equalizer. Lads if this isn’t where you start climbing. Hang them up . #DCFC .#Respect.”

Encouraging result

Leeds were the better side against Derby, and the Whites should have won the match, especially as they had a penalty.

However, the Rams will be pleased with the final result, as drawing at Elland Road against a strong Leeds is very encouraging.

Derby now have to kick on and put together a run of positive results, as they aim to finish in the top six of the Championship this season.
