Lee Hendrie has sent a message to Aston Villa midfielder Conor Hourihane on Twitter following his heroics against Derby County.

Hourihane scored a superb free kick for Villa in their 3-0 win against Derby away from home at the Pride Park Stadium in the Championship this afternoon.

The 27-year-old midfielder found the target in the 84th minute of the encounter and was the Villans’ third goal.

John McGinn has put Dean Smith’s side in the lead in the 74th minute, and Chelsea-owned striker Tammy Abraham made it 2-0 to the visiting team on 78 minutes.

Former Villa midfielder Hendrie was following the match, and he was impressed with the free kick from the former Sunderland midfielder – who joined Villa from Barnsley in January 2017 for a transfer fee reported by The Irish Examiner to be worth £3 million.

Paul McGrath was also following the match, and the former Villa central defender was delighted to see Smith’s team pick up all three points from the encounter against Derby.
